Centering Babies

When I first got pregnant with Lucy and started appointments with Dr. Royster, he recommended that I do the Walter Reed centering group. It is a group of couples that are pregnant and due in the same month that meets once a month to have an appointment with a nurse practitioner and discuss pregnancy/baby related topics. At first, I wasn’t so sure about the group. I thought it was information I didn’t need, but it turns out that these ladies have become my friends and support. We have started a facebook group to ask each other questions and provide kind words when needed! We met at the hospital a month after the babies were born and it was great to see them all together after they all grew in our bellies!

One month old

How did it happen that our little one was one month old!!? At the same time, I feel like we have had her forever and that she is brand new! We are thankful to God every day for giving us even more than we prayed for! Lucy has been the sweetest, most snuggly little baby and she is absolutely perfect. She cries when she is hungry, tired or needs changed, but for the most part is an excellent baby with a great temperament. I have been taking pictures of her for each week up until a month and now I am going to document monthly.

Height: 21 inches
Weight: 8.5 pounds
Eating: every 2-3 hours during the day and every 4 hours at night. Lucy is finally not causing me much pain anymore! She didn’t have a great latch at the beginning, but is doing much better after a trip to the lactation consultant at Walter Reed.
Likes: baths, looking at Mom and Dad, Jason Mraz, sleep sheep ocean noise, pooping 10 times a day and snuggling
Dislikes: being awake in her car seat
Nicknames: Lucy Goose, Luce, Little Peanut, Goose
Clothing size: newborn

Diapers: TONS in newborn size

Lucy's First Trip to Pittsburgh

We traveled to Pittsburgh to meet the rest of the family and our friends when Lucy was almost three weeks old. It was perfect timing because Dan was able to take 2 weeks of paternity leave and we went during his second week so we were able to have some time just us in Bethesda first. She was amazing on the drive there and slept the whole way other than one step at Keyser's Ridge for a quick feed and diaper change. We visited with Dan's grandparents, my grandparents, Dan's parents, my parents, Sarah, Jimmy, Madeline, Aunt Dianne, Mrs. Bower, Stef, Jamie, Kristin, Mrs. Olson, Schroeders and Chick, Aunt Karen and Bill, and Lisa and Savannah. I hope I'm not forgetting anyone! Lucy loved to meet everyone and slept through most of the trip! She even went to a Pitt basketball game and really wasn't bothered by all the noise. What a flexible baby we have!

Winchester Visit

Our little girl is quite the traveler. We went to Winchester to meet some of the Eppards and some of the Kents when she was almost two weeks old. Lucy met Aunt Donna, Uncle Kevin, David, Catherine, Christian, Katie, David and Rachel. We enjoyed telling them Lucy’s birth story and having family time!
